What's happening at The Ochre House?
In the days before William S. Burroughs begins to write, a lovely and strange debauchery unfolds to reveal the relationships involving junkies, poets, and the birth of the Beat Generation. On one particular night, the lovely and strange creatures found inhabiting a room in Mexico will be faced with sad and beautiful words, hidden agendas, and a gun.
Burroughs (Matthew Posey), steep in counterculture, is catapulted into satirical fantasies leading him to adore poet Allen Ginsberg (Mitchell Parrack), an influence on Bill’s writing. Burroughs’ relationship with Joan Vollmer (Elizabeth Evans), a siren for the Beat poets, is one of intrigue and madness wrapped in despair among lovers. The unfortunate events in Bill’s life will never amount to this night... one with a bullet, a skull, and the uneven air between. Bill states: "I am forced to the appalling conclusion that I would never have become a writer but for Joan's death."
Burroughs, Ginsberg, and Vollmer in a room, in Mexico, at the height of tensions and sexuality. A dark look at the one night when lives will change forever, presented with live music by Ross Mackey and Japanese bunraku puppetry mastered by Mitzi Morrow, Justin Locklear, and Natalie Young.
